EXO has been dominating the Twitter scene in many South East Asian countries, including the Phillipines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and more. Not only that, but EXO is extremely popular in China as well (of course).
Unfortunately, the only country where EXO isn’t currently dominating Twitter trends is Japan. I find that ironic considering they were ranked the #1 most popular Kpop group on Japanese charts for three months straight.
According to the Korea Music Content Industry Association, in China EXO took up 12.6% of the tweets that discussed Kpop Idols. That’s a huge percentage considering how many other popular Kpop Idol acts there are.
In the Phillipines, EXO took up 7.9% of tweets discussing Kpop idols. In Vietnam, they took up 6.7%. In Thailand they took up 4.1%, and in Indonesia, they took up 4.1% as well.
In Asia, 60.8% of the tweets regarding EXO came from China, 12.1% came from Indonesia, 10.1% came from Thailand, and 7.8% came from the Phillipines.
In the chart below, you can see that EXO has been increasing in popularity ever since September of last year. In certain days, they saw rapid spikes in their popularity. According to this chart, EXO is steadily gaining popularity every single day, with no signs of slowing down.
Congratulations to EXO for dominating Twitter trends in South East Asia. I wonder how much more popular these boys can be if they had their own personal Twitter accounts.
